Poisoning Overhaul
A downloadable mod
Current Mod Version: 1.1.0
Last Update: July 6, 2025
Requires: Lot51 Core Library
What does this mod do?
I found the way the Selvadoradian poisons and antidotes works a bit boring. Here's how I made some adjustments... Some features of this mod were previously part of the Selvadoradian Herbalism mod.
Better Antidote:
- Fixed the Antidote so that the empty glass really disappears after drinking, rather than just turning invisible (and then reappearing).
- Also, now the Antidote can have a quality (outstanding, normal or poor). This also has a meaning (see below).
- Even the Antidote purchased and given as gifts are not always of outstanding quality! Be careful!
- The Antidote actually has a bad taste now, so your Sims will also get a corresponding buff.
- The quality of the Antidote affects its effectiveness. The outstanding antidote cures 100% of the time.
- Taking the low-quality antidote has a 10% chance of causing instant death. If you drink two low-quality antidotes in a row, death is almost guaranteed.
- Even the “normal quality” antidote can cause death with a 0.5% probability. So almost unlikely, but still possible.
- You should also not drink several antidotes in a row. This is not a cough syrup, but a dangerous magical potion!
More dangerous temple traps:
- The temple poison arrow now causes instant death in 50% of cases. The ancestors didn't want to make things so easy for you!
- You can reduce the risk of immediate death by up to 15% if you first take an antidote of excellent quality.
- The temporary protection doesn't last long, so prepare enough antidotes!
Manufacturing and purchasing:
- Buying Antidote on the computer is now not possible if your Selvadorada knowledge is too low. Money is not everything!
- However, there is always an alternative way to purchase the potion from the Reward Store for Satisfaction Points.
- The self-production of the Antidode is not offered with this mod. But you can install my other mod Selvadoradian Herbalism, which makes this possible.
Death from Poisoning:
- Immortal Sims (Grim Reapers, Vampires, Robots, Ghosts, Immortal Werewolves) can no longer die from poisoning and will always survive.
- Since killing pregnant Sims is forbidden in the game, in order for this mod to be allowed on CurseForge, I had to move it to a separate addon, which will not be available on CurseForge.
Also suggest me other ideas on how I could expand the mod even further!
Translations
This mod only uses existing strings from the game, so no translations are necessary. All texts are already available in all languages.
Compatibility
There shouldn't be any compatibility problems because the mod doesn't overwrite anything.
Requirements
- The Lot 51 Core Library Script is required!
- You have to allow the scripts in your game settings.
