This mod was originally developed by ShuSanR. I took his idea after he announced in February 2022 that he would stop modding and playing the Sims 4 entirely. I updated the mod to the latest game version, slightly improved the design and added some new features. The mod's code was completely rewritten from scratch.

Mod Description

With this mod you get three new interaction groups with the diary journal:

• Practice Skills (affecting skill development, four skills at the moment).
• Positive Emotions (influencing the development of all positive life skills).
• Negative Emotions (influencing the development of all positive life skills).
• Confess Secrets (with various emotional buffs).

Life Skills

The Life Skills interactions can influence your Sim (Child or Teen) to positively or negatively develop Life Skills (Responsibility, Manners, Empathy, Conflict Resolution, Emotional Control). These interactions are also unlocked for adult Sims, but no longer affect life skill development. However, the adult Sims can receive certain buffs and emotions. This can also be used for story telling. The menu names are subject to change and are not the same for children and adults.

Practice Skills

The Skill interactions (practicing writing, writing jokes, solving math problems, prepare for debate, create sketches) develop some of your Sims' skills. I intentionally didn't implement all interactions like "Practice XY Skill" here, but only those that could fit a diary.

The follownig Skill development interactions with the private journal are available to all Sims (Child to Elder): 

• Practice Writing (Writing Skill, Base Game)
• Create Sketches (Painting Skill, Base Game)
• Write Jokes (Comedy Skill, Base Game)
• Solve Math Problems (Logic Skill, Base Game)
• Prepare for Debate (Research & Debate Skill, EP08)

Instead, Mental and Creativity skills are developed in children.

I deliberately did not include all skills because I don't see this mod primarily as a skill development mod. A few skills might be added in the future, but I'm definitely not doing interactions like "Practice XY Skill" for all skills. This is boring.

Confess Secrets

The journal now has a new “Confess” category. Your Sims can confide in their diary:

• Wants/Wishes (EP10 required)
• Fears (BaseGame friendly)
• Wedding Fantasy (BaseGame friendly) 
• Romantic Memory (BaseGame friendly) 

These interactions give your Sim corresponding buffs, but have no influence on skills or life skills. These are nice interactions for story telling.

The Write Wish interaction requires the Snowy Escape expansion pack (EP10) and gives your Sim a special buff. If you don't own this pack, you simply won't see this interaction.

Translations

This mod almost exclusively uses strings from the game and therefore requires no translations.

Requirements

• Sims 4 Parenthood Game Pack (GP05) is of course required!
• The Lot 51 Core Library Script is required!
• You have to allow the scripts in your game settings.
